She’s working better than the predictions. In my 14,300lb 38’ classic C&C sailboat the 10.0i is doing everything I was hoping for. It’s efficient, 3.3KW gives 5Knots of power, 10.2KW gives 6.8Knots of max speed. Paired with a 600AH 48V battery bank I can do around 40 nautical miles at 5 knots, if I choose to go slower, I can move at 4knots of speed on 2KW of power.
Plus, it’s working fantastic and looks great!
If you are looking at motors, you might think I undersized the motor to the boat, but this thing has torque. I paired it with a 16” MaxProp Classic two blade adjustable pitch propeller, set to 14degrees (7.4 inches). This is a larger diameter but narrower pitch than the recommended propeller, but it has similar thrust and is working well, but does leave me with some vibration. A 3 blade would be better.
Paired with these Ecoflow 500W bifacial panels, they regularly produce 400+watts and peak at 541!. I an leave the harbour on a 2 mile power, go sailing, watch my batteries charge back to 100%, cook some food in the electric air fryer, power back to the harbour 3 nautical miles and dock. Later in the day the solar has the batteries back up to 100%. All I need is more time on the water.
I converted an old ligurian gozzo from diesel to electric propulsion by exchanging the existing rudder blade for a pod8 motor (see photo). the motor is surprisingly strong and the whole system very reliable. using the WW Connect app gives me constant control of all relevant features of the whole propulsion system from batteries to current speed and remaining run time. The use of the pod8 as rudder gives you the maneuverability of a z-drive.
This week we have been out with one of our customers (Ohlson 8:8 sailboat) to do seatrials and prove our calculations on the electric inboard system 10.i powered by two 48-6800 batteries.
Our customer demanded a minimum range of 30Nm @4,5kn.

Since 2023 we have had a 15+5Kw WaterWorld inboard motor in our historic Vechtzomp of 14m long (approx. 6.5ton). This engine is very reliable and easy to operate. We do approximately 250 sailings per year and the silent sailing is truly wonderful. For price reasons, we opted for lead-acid batteries at the time. However, lithium is a much better option and the additional cost is now not too bad.
I have been using the 20KW version in the baltic sea on my 34ft ketch since last year (2024) and it is just awesome! You get the silence of sailing while motoring, making trips on engine power more enjoyable than ever before.
Regeneration also works great: I am getting around 100-150 Watts at 5.5-6knots speed even with the inefficiencies due to the angle of the shaft drive system compared to the water flow!

After sailing 3500 miles from Kiel, Germany to Lofoten, Norway and back with a Vindö 40 with a 10 kW inboard engine, I can only say: it works perfectly!
Op zoek naar een hybride aangedreven sloep kwam ik ook uit bij Aquatec. Zij hebben veel ervaring met elektrisch varen met Waterworld elektrische binnenboordmotoren. Er was een plan om ook een hybride versie te maken. Dat proces heb ik met mijn vraag misschien versneld. Een aantal maanden later zag ik een Vetus diesel waaromheen door WW een degelijk frame was gemaakt en waarin een elektromotor was opgehangen. De aandrijving op de schroefas gebeurt door middel van 2 V-snaren.
Na aflevering van deze voor Aquatec eerste hybride aangedreven sloep, kon ik ervaring opdoen met deze configuratie. Het WW scherm in de Raymarine Axiom voldeed gelijk uitstekend. Voldoende informatie over verbruik, resterende capaciteit en stand van accu’s. De mogelijkheid om opladen van de Lithium accu’s tijdens het dieselvaren mogelijk te maken en de beveiliging daaromheen werkt feilloos. Er waren wat vragen over het laden met walstroom, daarover heeft WW mij uitstekend en bruikbaar advies gegeven. Nu, aan het einde van het seizoen worden nog enkele aanpassingen verricht en de app om de WW gegevens op m’n mobiel uit te lezen geïnstalleerd.
